Steve Swan and Matthew Butler were best friends. Both of their lives were cut short in the early morning hours on June 19th, 2008 after leaving Matthew’s recording studio, Zion Gate Studios. Matthew Butler Matthew Butler, son of Theresa and Mike Butler, will be greatly missed by so many of us. He is survived by his wife Jamie Butler and their two young children Matthew and McKayla. Matt can be described as Overcomer, fervent father, loving son, faithful friend, passionate musician, creative genius, and lover of The Lord Jesus Christ. Not only was Matt a talented musician, he was also a brilliant songwriter with a natural ability to touch the inner soul of those who heard his songs. Matt having overcome, and in his own words, been healed from severe bi-polar disorder, followed his passion and started his own Christian music recording business Zion Gate Records in 2005. Matt was always compassionate of others and their needs, on several occasions he gave away some of his possessions to someone else in need. When you met him, you just knew there was something special about him and automatically liked him. He has many friends from many different walks of life.
